Keeping an eye on the ball

TelecomTrevor Dance from Telecom likes to think of Project Management as one big sports event. With so much going on, it seems sensible to position yourself at the highest spot. However this doesn’t necessarily allow you to see what is happening or how Trevor puts it, “Who has the ball?”.

Telecom New Zealand are an online and communications company in Australasia who offer a full range of internet, data, voice, mobile and fixed line calling services.

Following initial interests, Pavire went through a vigorous test to see how secure and well suited it would be to Telecom’s existing systems.

“We investigated the integrity of the iToolsOnline operation, security and resilience and gave it a clean bill of health for the scope of our intended use.”

Pavire keeps everyone involved informed. It ensures everyone knows who is in charge of projects and the status of them. Because it is internet based, all information is provided across the board in real time.

“None of this "he said, she said" nonsense trying to work out who owns the task from an email string - their name is against the task, they know it and everyone knows.”

What Trevor likes about the software is the way it has allowed people to work smarter. No longer is conference meeting time wasted on getting everyone up to par, but instead focusing on the main issues.

“Instead of working out what the status is for updates, reports and meetings, you can just view online or print a report directly from the system - minutes before the meeting.”

“We have received excellent feedback from the vendors both directly quotable and un-officially as ‘much better than the systems we use’.”
